Chris Brillinger

An Urban Planner by training, Chris has held a variety of positions in a number of community-based agencies prior to joining the City of Toronto in 1998.

Positions held include: Project Manager Toronto Youth Job Corps; Community Development Officer; Agency Review Officer and Manager, Community Relations in Toronto Social Services.

In 1997, Chris was appointed Director of the newly formed Community Resources Unit (now the Community Resources Section) in the Social Development and Administration Division and assumed responsibility for corporate grants, community funding programs, community development, and employment programs for at-risk youth.

The Community Resources Section now has responsibility for the Community Revitalization Secretariat, 10 Community Centres under Boards of Management, and program development and coordination in Toronto’s Priority Neighbourhoods for Investment.

At present, Chris is the Director of the Social Policy, Analysis and Research Section, Chris oversees the social policy and research function within the City, as well as the Community Safety Secretariat. This includes strategic policy development, project management and research support provided to Toronto Council and Council-initiated Special Committees.

Chris currently sits on the Youth Challenge Fund's Partnership Steering Committee, representing the City of Toronto.
