YCF announces $4.8 million in investments for Toronto youth
On August 5, 2008, YCF announced fifth-round funding, providing $4.8 million for six youth-led initiatives across Toronto’s 13 priority neighbourhoods. The funding will support initiatives that provide sustainable opportunities for underserved youth through unique collaborative partnerships including large public institutions as well as grassroots organizations.
These initiatives will receive funding through to 2011. This announcement brings total investments to $19.8 million for 99 youth-led initiatives across Toronto since YCF was established in February 2006. The six initiatives receiving funding in this fifth round include: Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough: Community Space Initiative; Nia: African-Canadian Arts and Culture Centre of Excellence; Flemo City Media Studio and Youth Centre for Opportunities; For Youth Initiative (FYI): 1652 Keele Space Initiative; HOODLINC (Helping Out Others Develop Life in Neighbouring Communities): 2900 Space Initiative and ROSE Project; Organizational Capacity Building Unit -UWT: Creative Institute for Toronto’s Young (CITY) Leaders.
