West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre: Get in Gear

The Get in Gear initiative provides youth from across the 13 priority neighbourhoods with supports they need to prepare for the workforce. It helps youth access training and build employable skills, referring them to programs such as certification in CPR, Smart Serve and forklift operation at over 100 community-based agencies.
YCF funding helps to support and offset costs associated with training and certification. Get in Gear also provides youth with work-related items essential to accessing and maintaining meaningful employment, such as clothing for job interviews and TTC tokens.
Get in Gear helps break down barriers to employment for hundreds of youth across the priority neighbourhoods. It reaches the hardest-to-reach youth in these communities. The initiative has supported 1,866 since 2007.
