The Jewil Project

The Jewil Project, located in a film studio in Scarborough’s Victoria Village, teaches youth how to use post-production film, music and graphic arts equipment.

With help from community volunteers, the Jewil Project renovated a 3,000 square foot space in the facility into a youth lounge and recording studio. Youth designed the space with student feedback collected from a survey.

Four days a week, 30 youth, most of whom are high school students looking to fulfill co-op requirements, visit the space to receive training in various media arts technology – digital, video and sound editing, animation, music recording – from professors from Centennial College.

Through the program, they receive up to four high school credits as well as invaluable experience working with industry professionals and receiving hands-on training.
